Electronic equipment stolen from school

first_imgA half-dozen pieces of electronic equipment were stolen from classrooms at California High School, school officials said Wednesday. Burglars took three desktop computers, an overhead projector, two printers and a laptop computer sometime on Sunday, said Valerie Martinez, spokesperson for the Whittier Union High School District. “This is very uncommon in our schools because our campuses are always locked down tight,” she said. “But we are taking it very seriously. “Our educational resources are tight. We’re always strategizing on how to save money to provide technology in the classrooms.” Although the stolen property belonged to the school district, four teachers were affected by the theft, said Martinez. “Our kids are working hard in their classrooms and someone has momentarily removed one of their instructional tools,” said California High Principal Richard Boline. “This is an unnecessary distraction to the targeted, focused work we need to get done each day.” Investigators found no broken windows or vandalism following the break-in and an investigation by the school resource officer, who is a deputy sheriff, is ongoing, said Martinez.
