Martinez is coming off a strong freshman campaign. As soon as he took over the Cornhuskers in December 2017, Scott Frost immediately went after the four-star recruit. Now, his most recent comments about Martinez will have Nebraska fans salivating.According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, Frost says Martinez has produced at least one ‘wow’ moment every day in practice. He even said one throw reminded him of Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes. That sound you hear is the Adrian Martinez hype train going into overdrive. #Huskers coach Scott Frost on Adrian Martinez: “Adrian provides us with at least a ‘wow’ moment a day. He made a throw the other day that I’ve never really seen before. Maybe watching the [Kansas City] Chiefs play last year. We just need him to play like he’s been practicing.”— Adam Rittenberg (@ESPNRittenberg) August 26, 2019Even though Martinez handled himself well as a true freshman, Frost is right that his practice exploits won’t matter if he can’t duplicate them on game day.Coming off a 4-8 season in 2018, Nebraska finds itself in the AP preseason top 25. The expectations are high once again in Lincoln. We’ll get our first look at Martinez and the 2019 Huskers on Saturday when they host South Alabama at noon ET on ESPN.
