Some of the companies in attendance included DICK’s Sporting Goods, Walmart and UHS, who was looking to hire 500 people in the region. JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) — Forty different companies attended the Broome-Tioga Workforce job fair at the Oakdale Mall Thursday. Participates were able to drive up and talk to each company individually. Murphy mentioned there were over 130 cars of people who participated in the job fair. Executive Director Robert Murphy says the Oakdale Mall is a popular venue to host the job fair. The Broome-Tioga Workforce says there will be another job fair in the future. “We’ve had other job fairs which we haven’t gotten anywhere near the number of people,” Murphy said. “Those are even virtual job fairs where we’re sending out notices and having people call up for a particular employer.” This is the second drive-thru job fair the organization hosted. The Broome-Tioga Workforce says the job fair gives people opportunities to go job hunting.
